Overview

In the Family Violence Prevention Practicum, you will select an issue or topic and examine the response of current research, policy, practice and programs to produce a research paper. As one of the final units in the Graduate Diploma of Family Violence Prevention, the Practicum gives you the opportunity to draw on the knowledge and experience gained from previous units and focus on one key issue or topic of interest. Evidence-informed policy and practice is crucial in the specialist family violence sector. The Practicum is designed to develop your understanding of the importance of research and evidence in this space. In this unit you will develop your critical thinking skills, enhance your ability to make evidence-based arguments, and build your professional knowledge of family violence prevention. Over the course of the semester, you will undertake a series of staged activities related to your chosen topic, including undertaking in-depth research and analysis to deliver a final research paper. You will be supervised regularly by the Unit Coordinator throughout the semester.
