This unit will expose you to the complex and evolving contexts of local and global architectural practice. It also introduces salient issues of architectural practice management and contract administration. Project-based exercises enable you to strategically position yourself within contemporary practice. The unit fosters critical engagements with and expanded approaches to architectural practice.

Learning outcomes
- Understand the ethical values, legal contexts and professional responsibilities required for delivery of architectural services;
- Demonstrate and apply an understanding of the delivery of architectural services as they relate to feasibility, co-design & community consultation, design research and contract administration;
- Integrate knowledge and skills to apply processes of contract administration for the delivery of architectural projects;
- Communicate effectively, respectfully and professionally with clients and relevant stakeholders on architectural projects;
- Advocate for sustainability, accessibility, safety and culturally meaningful architectural services;
- Identify relevant resources and use them to address issues to suitably and sustainably practice in the Australian context and beyond.
Workload
12 hours per week including 3 contact hours plus 9 hours of independent study, or equivalent, including viewing of recorded online weekly lectures.
