This unit is about the governance of policy projects. You will learn about the choices that governments must make in delivering goods and services to the public and about the values that inform those choices. The unit will cover some of the technical aspects of project delivery, such as objective setting, project definition, and procurement, and the focus will be on understanding the political context in which public policies are designed, managed, and delivered.

Learning outcomes
- Understand key challenges facing governments in delivering goods and services to the public;
- Understand how theoretical issues of policy implementation and service delivery can be applied to real-life examples;
- Apply problem-solving strategies to common policy implementation challenges.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. A unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
