The unit enables you to record and produce music in digital audio workstation environments. By recording environmental, instrumental and vocal sounds using accessible equipment, you will learn about music production, editing, mixing, and mastering techniques. You will learn fundamental elements of sound and audio theory to expand your ongoing engagement with electronic music.

Learning outcomes
- recognise and use essential microphone types and placement;
- Record live audio to a digital audio workstation;
- compose music using a digital audio workstation;
- use digital signal processing effects;
- mix and master a finished recording or composition.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
