Social media lab is for students from the different specialisations in the Bachelor of Media Communication to come together to develop their critical, creative, and reflective skills for social media. You will work with peers to analyse existing social media content and accounts and, on your own, devise a creative project that involves researching and creating content appropriate to one or more social media platforms. Social media lab gives you opportunities to practice and refine your creative and writing skills in the complex, rapidly changing context of social media.

Learning outcomes
- apply knowledge from the discipline of media and communication to the analysis and practice of social media content creation for different audiences;
- write proficiently in academic, creative, and reflective formats;
- find, interpret, and evaluate academic sources of information about social media;
- collaborate with peers to produce an effective social media analysis;
- work independently to research, design, and execute a creative project for social media.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
