Last checked: 23 Aug 2026 UTCOverview
Designed to advance your intercultural competence to support you to operate ethically and effectively in contemporary workplaces, the Global Encounters program is delivered across diverse, virtual and real-world learning settings. You will undertake a pre-program module focusing on cultural awareness and relevant historical and cultural context. This module will also provide an introduction to Indigenous epistemologies, ontologies, axiologies, and transdisciplinary ways of addressing social, economic and ecological challenges. In the intensive component of the unit, you will learn from Indigenous community leaders, educators and entrepreneurs who will share aspects of Indigenous knowledge systems and cultures that shape and inform ecological practices, entrepreneurship, and creative and cultural industries in local contexts. Learning from specific Indigenous communities and cultural organisations, you will gain an insight into the nature of business and community engagement and education that seek to re-shape and encourage intercultural understanding and collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
