Designed exclusively for PPE students, this study tour will immerse you in the political, philosophical, and economic issues of a major society in the Indo-Pacific region. PPE students will meet with and learn from academics and practitioners in the fields of politics, philosophy, and economics, including think tanks and non-governmental organizations. In doing so, you will analyse the causes and consequences of the changing power dynamics in Australia’s geo-political region, and comprehend the political, philosophy, and economic perspectives of the host country. By the end of this study tour, you will have a comprehension of the political and economic forces shaping the coming century in the Indo-Pacific, and the diverse ideas emerging to interpret this change.

Learning outcomes
- collaborate with peers to comprehend and interpret emerging challenges and actors in global affairs at the intersection of philosophy, politics and economics;
- recognise and analyse the social and economic forces shaping Australian relations with the Indo-Pacific region in the 21st century;
- use inter-cultural competences to comprehend and interpret the politics, philosophy and economics of important societies in the Indo-Pacific region;
- communicate solutions in persuasive verbal and visual forms;
- communicate solutions in persuasive written form;
- think reflexively about the opportunities and challenges of studying and working internationally.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study.
