This unit focuses on contemporary philosophy of mind and cognition. It will explore consciousness, thought, perception and the self. We address questions like: Can we measure consciousness? What is the relation between consciousness and intelligence? What is the difference between dreaming and being awake? Are thought and perception distinct? Is there a real self? How can the senses tell us about the world? What kinds of processes in the brain can explain the structure of cognition and conscious experience?
