This unit builds on the foundations of level 1 and 2 Global Studies units. You will bring together both discipline-specific and interdisciplinary skills that you have acquired over your study to formulate meaningful, ethical and innovative approaches to global challenges. The mode of this unit, as a 2-week international intensive, gives you the opportunity to develop grounded, contextualised and in-depth knowledge of local issues with global implications, by engaging with local experts and practitioners. You will further refine your skills in intercultural awareness and your capacity as an agent of change.

Learning outcomes
- analyse and critique how complex global issues manifest in local contexts;
- adopt an interdisciplinary and ethical approach, guided by Global Studies frameworks, to addressing contemporary regional and/or global challenges;
- demonstrate an awareness of different cultural contexts and their importance in mediating social change;
- critically reflect upon your own position in a global context and as an agent of social change;
- communicate outcomes of new knowledge in an effective way, both orally and in writing;
- build on and develop skills in collaboration, global citizenship and intercultural communication.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. A unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
