In this unit you will consider the communicative dimensions of public health issues, and how they are enmeshed within broader socio-economic relationships and structures. Drawing on case studies, best practice and scholarly research in the field, you will critically evaluate a diverse range of health communication initiatives from different regions and sectors. You will also engage with media training and gain expertise in designing and executing effective communication strategies for diverse health issues.

Learning outcomes
- critically analyse the social and communicative dimensions of public health issues, showing a deep understanding of complex theories, concepts, ideas and arguments;
- plan and execute original communication projects, communicating arguments with clarity, and demonstrating a critical understanding of multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches to medicine and healthcare;
- think and analyse reflectively and ethically about the role of knowledge and power in the arena of medicine and health;
- communicate your findings in a range of academic and professional formats.
