Global business is part of a complex system that impacts society, locations and people across the globe. These impacts may create opportunities, challenges and/or inequalities for different industries, regions or groups within society, as well as the environment at the local and global level. In this unit we will explore, examine, research, analyse, and discuss 'grand challenges' facing business, society and the environment and connect these complex challenges to problems facing global businesses and their stakeholders.

Learning outcomes
- demonstrate an awareness of the governance, leadership, ethical and diversity dimensions of grand global challenges and their impact on complex global business issues in local and international contexts
- work individually and collaboratively to critically examine examples and analyse examples of complex business problems using a range of cross-disciplinary perspectives
- integrate business discipline knowledge to appraise responses to complex business problems to enhance equitable and sustainable outcomes
- demonstrate research and critical analysis skills and an ethical awareness of complex business problems as they relate to global grand challenges
- demonstrate knowledge or skills for crafting sustainable futures for people, organisations, communities, and/or the environment.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
