Overview

This unit is intended to consolidate and apply the technical learning achieved in the core units of the Master of Advanced Finance. To attain real industry experiences, the unit will focus on a selection of targeted case studies that highlight both contemporary and perennial issues likely to be encountered in industry. Additionally the unit will encourage the development of teamwork, reflection, professional report writing and communication skills necessary for your career in Banking and Finance,

Learning outcomes

  1. apply financial technical knowledge and skills to analyse a variety of business case studies and make recommendations
  2. evaluate recommendations and strategies from an ethical perspective and formulate critical questions
  3. synthesise competing perspectives, arguments and evidence to construct a defensible course of action for a banking and finance case study
  4. demonstrate skills in reflection, group work, professionalism and production of professional reports and presentations.

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
