Overview

You will undertake a supervised placement within an industry setting. You will use the industry placement to inform development of a research question within the field, and conduct research to address this question. As part of the unit you will present seminars on your research, culminating in a final research report. This placement will help you develop and consolidate your workplace skills. Candidates may only commence the Honours year at the beginning of the first semester.

Learning outcomes

  1. Critically review and synthesise the relevant literature in the field.
  2. Articulate a gap in existing knowledge or evidence and develop critical, creative and innovative solutions to address the research problem.
  3. Explain the processes involved in the design, development and implementation of a research project.
  4. Apply advanced knowledge and technical skills including theoretical, experimental and computational approaches as appropriate for the field of research.
  5. Design and analyse an appropriate set of studies.
  6. Demonstrate autonomy, well-developed judgement, adaptability and responsibility as a learner.
  7. Demonstrate ethical, professional and personal responsibility and behaviours consistent with good research practice and professional codes of practice.
  8. Communicate ideas and results perceptively and effectively to professional audiences in oral and written formats.
