This unit will explore current research, concepts and practices associated with teacher and student wellbeing. These will include notions of health multidimensionality and cultural wellbeing; personal factors such as perception, resilience and distress; enabling practices of relationships, positive learning environments, and mindfulness and professional communities of practice. You will build knowledge and gain experience in critiquing relationships between education and wellbeing, designing strategies to enhance your own wellbeing as well as that of your students, and develop confidence and competence in applying some of these strategies.

Learning outcomes
- demonstrate knowledge of the different concepts, models and frameworks of wellbeing
- demonstrate knowledge of contemporary contexts and resources related to teacher wellbeing and student wellbeing
- apply understandings of contemporary contexts to select appropriate wellbeing strategies
- understand, utilise and have participated experientially in a variety of wellbeing pedagogies that promote learning in the area
- develop, design and plan resources for particular audiences.
Workload
The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per teaching period comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Usually, you can expect to engage with: • 24 hours* of scheduled learning delivered on campus via weekly/regular directed learning activities; and • the remaining hours to be allocated towards self-directed/independent study Scheduled learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement. *Subject to variation due to professional experience requirements
