Overview

This unit extends upon foundational knowledge obtained within the discipline sequence. You will analyse sporting and physical activities from a physiological and sociocultural perspective. You will draw on data to inform the application of relevant training principles and methods to improve performance within physical activity according to individual and/or club goals. The unit develops your ability to critically apply knowledge and deploy skills to evaluate needs, prescribe exercise and monitor performance relative to those needs. In doing so, you will be able to design and evaluate an effective training program. You will participate in a variety of practical sessions in order to gain a first-hand appreciation of the exercise programming process. The unit utilises intensive workshops and online content to provide practical and theoretical foundations that develop essential skills and knowledge.
