Fine Art Research at Honours level is largely self-directed and non-prescriptive in terms of content. You will produce a proposal at the beginning of the semester but are free to develop the project in new directions as needed. You will meet regularly with your mentors while undertaking independent research and your work will be discussed and debated in group settings and weekly crit sessions.

Learning outcomes
- Identify and critically evaluate discourse and techniques relevant to your chosen area of research;
- Critically evaluate and apply an appropriate research methodology to support sustained independent practice as an artist, curator or art historian;
- Communicate and present your research through appropriate modes of practice within Fine Art Studio, Curating or Art History;
- Extend and refine your critical and creative capabilities through the development of a major practice-based research project;
- Demonstrate an understanding of site, positioning and environment within your research practice.
Workload
24 hours per week including 6 contact hours and 18 hours of independent study, or equivalent.
