This unit addresses what human rights advocacy is, how to develop a human rights advocacy strategy and how to be an effective human rights advocate. The unit skillfully balances in-depth academic analysis of the topic with case studies illustrating the successful implementation of human rights advocacy strategies. Students will study a diverse array of advocacy approaches, including courtroom advocacy as part of strategic litigation, advocacy within the United Nations and community and political advocacy for law reform.
