This unit provides you with a structured opportunity to translate theoretical knowledge into practical application within a contemporary business environment. Acting as an industry-focused capstone project, the unit integrates a range of concepts, skills, and specialist knowledge. You will employ a variety of analytical tools and organisational frameworks to identify a real-world business problem and develop a robust, evidence-based business case in response. By the end of the unit, you will be able to demonstrate your capacity to integrate theory with professional practice through the delivery of a strategically informed and feasible business solution.

Learning outcomes
- Teaching period 1: develop understanding of organisations as a set of integrated systems operating in increasingly dynamic environments Teaching period 2: analyse complex organisational contexts to diagnose a real-world business problem using advanced theoretical frameworks related to culture, strategy, innovation, and project management
- Teaching period 1: demonstrate understanding of the processes, methods, and evaluative controls required to deliver industry projects Teaching period 2: evaluate alternative strategic and project management approaches including agile and traditional methodologies to determine their suitability for addressing the identified business challenge
- Teaching period 1: demonstrate the ability to integrate management theory and specialist knowledge in the delivery of industry projects Teaching period 2: design a comprehensive, evidence-based business case that articulates clear goals, objectives, risks, and implementation pathways
- Teaching period 1: demonstrate the ability to analyse complex organisational challenges, generate unique insights, and make proposals for change. Teaching period 2: create a feasible and strategically aligned project plan that integrates organisational insights, stakeholder considerations, and a detailed roadmap for delivery and evaluation.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
