Given the numerous disruptions facing organisations and their supply chains today, there is a significant need for qualified supply chain professionals who possess necessary operational skills and high-level knowledge on supply chain management to assist business achieve a future-proof supply chain with positive growth outcomes. The subject comprises crucial concepts and practices in the field of supply chain management and prepares you for professions in supply chain management in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.

Learning outcomes

  1. develop a comprehensive understanding of supply chains and their complex network of players from upstream suppliers to downstream customers
  2. demonstrate an understanding of the key theories, concepts and inventory management tools in supply chain management
  3. understand how customer needs are changing and the importance of coordination amongst supply chain partners
  4. develop an understanding of the role of information technologies and innovation in managing supply chains
  5. demonstrate knowledge or skills for crafting sustainable futures for people, organisations, communities, and/or the environment.

Workload

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
