Enhancing good mental health and wellbeing is of benefit to individuals, organisations, and society. This unit critically examines HRM principles, practices, and legislation that influence workplace mental health and wellbeing. Through relevant theory, case studies, practical tools and evidence-based frameworks, you will be equipped to address organisational issues and generate interventions to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of individuals and teams in the workplace.

Learning outcomes
- demonstrate discipline knowledge of HRM principles, practices and legislation that influence workplace mental health and wellbeing
- develop and apply critical skills to assess physical and psychological safety risks for improved mental health and wellbeing in the workplace
- critically apply evidence-based approaches to facilitate improvements to mental health and wellbeing at individual, team and organisational levels
- analyse organisational issues related to behaviours, culture and structure that can have an impact on workplace health and wellbeing and identify possible solutions and mental health challenges in the workplace
- demonstrate knowledge or skills for crafting sustainable futures for people, organisations, communities, and/or the environment.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
