In this unit you will develop advanced skills in managing complex non-healing wounds and associated pain through application of pathophysiological principles to guide clinical decision-making. This knowledge will enable you to formulate comprehensive evidence-based assessments of patients with non-healing wounds and wound-related pain to optimize their care outcomes. Learning opportunities will enhance your ability to evaluate holistic, evidence-based approaches for the distinct management of complex wound presentations and pain syndromes. You will also develop sophisticated communication skills to effectively convey complex wound care concepts and navigate ethical principles when engaging with diverse audiences including patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams. Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. The unit requires on average 10-12 hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include teacher directed learning, reading time, participation in online discussions or discussion groups, research and preparation for assignments.
