Overview

In this unit, you will explore a broad range of current topics in nutrition, addressing both local and global contexts. You will also seek recent scientific evidence to debunk nutrition claims commonly found on social media. Throughout the unit, you will evaluate contemporary nutrition issues and synthesise evidence to support or challenge current nutrition practices. You will develop the ability to appraise scientific literature from reputable sources, integrate evidence, and communicate your findings effectively for both academic and public audiences.

  4. Synthesise and integrate evidence to debate current nutrition practices, policies, or claims.
  5. Communicate nutrition concepts effectively, both orally and in writing, for academic and public audiences.

Workload

6 hours of teacher-directed study per week, including 3 hours of lectures and 3 hours of workshops. 6 hours per week of self-directed study. Total per week = 12 hours
