Last checked: 23 Aug 2026 UTCOverview
This is the first unit of the occupational therapy intervention units. It comprises integrated case-based learning, skills-based learning, theories and evidence-based practice with participation in practice education placement to consolidate application of knowledge into practice. You will apply and critique the principles of assessment and intervention for clients with problems related to capacities to engage in activities, occupations, and participation in community life. Intervention principles will also incorporate environmental supports and barriers (advocacy, organisational change, environmental adaptation), and evidence-based practice. You will begin to develop appropriate intervention plans for clients based on assessment findings and evidence. Building on the skills acquired in OCC2013, you will further develop their professional competencies in professional behaviour, information gathering, communication with clients and co-workers, documentation, time-management, occupational therapy assessment, intervention and evaluation. You will participate in two weeks (four days per week) of practice education placement to develop these competencies. You will be provided with feedback and guided to reflect on and in practice within both academic and clinical contexts.
