Overview

In this unit you will be provided with a grounding in legal, ethical, and professional practice issues relevant to clinical psychology. Classes are designed as practical workshops, where you will apply knowledge of ethical codes and Acts to clinical scenarios. Issues related to cultural sensitivity in relation to working with diverse populations (e.g., ethnic minorities, LGBT populations) will also be discussed. You will be exposed to the many varied roles of psychologists and professional practice issues that arise across a variety of settings, and learn about the importance of collaborative, systemic work.

  5. Integrate skills in reflective practice and self-care for professional practice
  6. Explain and demonstrate what it means to be a professional

Workload

Minimum total expected workload equals 144 hours per semester comprising: Contact hours for students: 3-hr workshop per week Additional requirements for students: Independent study including preparation, engaging with the literature, practicing communication skills and reflection activities to make up the required minimum hours during the semester.
