This unit extends your foundational knowledge and skills in CBT and generic therapeutic processes to evidence-based interventions for specific clinical presentations including anxiety disorders and trauma, eating disorders, psychosis, and sleep disorders. The unit also introduces you to family therapy principles and systems-based interventions to prepare you to deliver evidence-based therapies to children, parents and families.

Learning outcomes
- Differentiate the evidence-informed interventions for specific clinical presentations
- Deliver key cognitive and behavioural interventions that relate to the client’s presentation, socio-cultural context, and goals
- Formulate cognitive conceptualisations and treatment plans for a child or adolescent that is reflective of their systemic-context
- Describe evidence-informed interventions and processes for working with parents to support the mental health of their child or adolescent
- Manage multiple people, and their different emotional experiences, in the therapeutic environment with warmth and curiosity
- Engage in reflective practice of therapeutic style and skill development
Workload
12 seminars of 3 hours for a total of 36 hours. Preparation / self-directed study: 1 hour per week to prepare for or apply learning from the seminars and 12 hours preparation for assessment tasks.
