This unit consists of online theory related to radiation therapy practice and an 8 week clinical placement, allowing you to develop technical and professional skills in radiation therapy imaging, planning, treatment, digital health systems and patient care. This unit will provide you with the opportunity to develop beginner level knowledge and skills related to interprofessional collaboration, cultural safety and a holistic view of patient care. You will analyse and apply the principles of radiation therapy planning, including the use of artificial intelligence, through simulated online radiation therapy planning curriculum activities at a beginner level. You will continue to develop knowledge and apply the principles of safe practice to treatment, communication and patient care online and in the workplace. Summer A Offering: (prerequisite RTS4102) 4 weeks simulated learning and pre-clinical activities undertaken prior to an 8 week clinical placement commencing in January. Summer B Offering: (Prerequisite RTS4106) commence 8 weeks of clinical placement in January and will be exempt from pre-clinical simulated learning activities.

Assessment in this unit includes hurdle assessment tasks. Failure of any hurdle assessment task may result in failure of the unit. Achieve a mark of 50% or more of the available marks for each assessment item. Note: In accordance with Course Requirements, you must submit a valid police check, WWC check, first aid certificate.

Workload
8 hours of online tutorial sessions 2 x 1-hour sessions per week) during the first 4 weeks of the unit 10 hours self-directed study per week. Total = 12 hours per week. You will be required to complete 8 weeks of full time clinical placement.
