Businesses, big and small, rely on technology and information systems to operate successfully in a rapidly changing global market. This combination of business and information technology gives you the skills to apply business principles and knowledge across the IT sector or assist businesses to implement new technological advances. You have the opportunity to explore areas of interest or develop new ones, or combine your majors to develop key skills. You could: • combine majors in accounting and software development to create new software programs for accountants • mix games development and marketing to help you develop and sell the next big video game • join business information systems and business statistics to work in the growing field of data analytics.

Structure

In this double degree you will complete one major from the Bachelor of Business (B2000) and one major from the Bachelor of Information Technology (C2000). Some majors, minors and specialisations include the same units. Where this occurs, up to 12 credit points may be shared between: - two majors; or - a major and a minor; or - a specialisation and a major or minor.

You must complete 96 credit points, including all of the requirements in Part A, Part B and Part C, for the Bachelor of Business. Note: If you are completing the Accounting major as part of this double degree, ECX2953 is required to meet professional accreditation requirements. You can complete ECX2953 in Part A instead of ECF1100 and will not be required to complete ECF1200.

You must complete 96 credit points, including all of the requirements in Part A and Part B, for the Bachelor of Information Technology and no more than 36 credit points can be completed at Level 1. Note: If you choose the Business Information Systems major, you are exempt from FIT1006. You must replace FIT1006 with a unit from the major that you have not already completed. This is because you will complete a Level 1 statistics unit (ETC1000 or ETF1100) as part of the Business component of your degree.
