This degree offers you the opportunity to complete a professional, highly focussed qualification in finance. It is quantitatively oriented and provides both depth and breadth in finance. You will learn about and apply theory and concepts in finance to enable you to critically evaluate and make decisions regarding capital investment, mergers and acquisitions, foreign exchange, valuation of financial securities and firms, money market dealing, financial forecasting, bonds and stocks and gain a comprehensive exposure to options, future and other derivatives. With this qualification you can aspire to a large number of roles in finance, including group finance director, commodities trader, derivatives trader, investment banker, project finance analyst, trade finance specialist, stockbroker, chief financial officer, mergers and acquisitions specialist, commercial banker, credit analyst, risk manager, corporate finance analyst, finance director, investment advisor, derivative or commodities trader, investment banker or corporate treasurer.

Structure

In choosing your units, you must ensure that you complete no more than 60 credit points at unit Level 1 and at least 36 credit points at unit Level 3, including 24 credit points at unit Level 3 offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics. Some majors and minors include the same units. Where this occurs, up to 12 credit points may be shared between: - two majors; or - a major and a minor. Note: Units can only count toward one minor. They cannot be shared across multiple minors.

You must complete 24 credit points from the following units. Note: You can only complete either ACC1100 or ACC1001 (one accounting unit). Only one of these units can count towards the 24 credit points required.

You must complete 66 credit points, comprising: - 24 credit points from the following list; and - 42 credit points from specified discipline units.

You must complete the following unit.

You must complete 48 credit points of elective study. Electives can be chosen from: - Units not already completed in Part B above, - Units offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics, or units from across the University, which may be used to complete a major or minor from another course, provided you have met the relevant prerequisites and there are no enrolment restrictions. Notes: - Enrolment in Faculty of Business and Economics units at campuses other than your campus of enrolment is subject to there being spare capacity after students from that campus have enrolled. You should also be aware of travel and timetabling limitations. - If you are in a double degree course, some units required for the other component of the degree are credited as electives towards this Bachelor of Finance.
