Bachelor of Cybersecurity

Elective units may be at any level, however, no more than ten units (60 credit points) can be credited to the cybersecurity course at Level 1, and a minimum of 36 credit points must be completed in cybersecurity at Level 3. Note: Students at the Malaysia campus are required to complete an industry placement in order to graduate. This can be either the Industry-based learning unit (Part C) or the zero-credit-point unit FIT3199: Industry work experience. This unit will provide a framework for all undergraduate information technology students at the Malaysia Campus to complete the compulsory industry experience as required by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.

You must complete the following units: FIT1045 Introduction to programming FIT1047 Introduction to computer systems, networks and security FIT1057 Introduction to cybersecurity FIT1093 Cybersecurity tools and techniques FIT2121 System architecture and integration FIT2165 Computer networks

You must complete the following units: FIT2173 Software security FIT3031 Network security FIT3210 Securing AI systems FIT3211 Adversary simulation and emulation FIT3212 Security automation and AI and one unit (6 credit points) from: FIT3184 Cloud computing and security FIT3168 IT forensics FIT3185 Privacy enhancing technologies

You must complete the following units: FIT2119 Computing in practice: Professional practice and lifecycle delivery FIT2122 Cybersecurity in practice: Industry induction and studio methods and FIT3213 Cybersecurity in practice: Project 1 FIT3214 Cybersecurity in practice: Project 2 or FIT3215 Industry-based learning

FIT3215 Industry-based learning (IBL) unit is only available if you are selected to participate in the IBL placement program. For Clayton students - If you are selected to participate in the IBL placement program you will complete FIT3215 Industry-based learning (24 credit points) and FIT2108 Industry-based learning (0 credit points). This will replace FIT3213 Cybersecurity in practice: Project 1; FIT3214 Cybersecurity in practice: Project 2; the FIT Level 3 elective from Part B; and one free elective. For Malaysia students - Students at the Malaysia campus must complete an industry placement in order to graduate, as required by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). This can either be FIT3215 Industry-based learning (if you are selected to participate) or FIT3199 Industry work experience. Note: You should complete FIT3199 over the Summer vacation period between the second and third year. If you are selected to participate in the IBL placement program, you will complete the FIT3215 Industry-based learning (24 credit points) and FIT2108 Industry-based learning (0 credit points). This will replace the FIT Level 3 elective unit in Part B and three free electives (18 credit points). Students undertaking the IBL program will be required to complete FIT3214 Cybersecurity in practice: Project 2 over the summer semester to complete the degree within three years. You must have completed at least three semesters of your course before starting your IBL placement.

Your elective units may be chosen from the faculty or across the University, as long as you have completed the prerequisites and there are no enrolment restrictions on the units, including the option to complete a major or minor from other courses.
