Take One Step is a pledge initiative to inspire action and leadership for a better world. It is the first step in applying for Green Steps.

We're asking you to take an action, be it reducing waste, buying ethically, or having a conversation about the world you want to live in. Go vegetarian, take a cold shower, donate your time to a charity or teach someone a new skill. No matter what action you take, every small step makes a big difference in a world that needs positive change.

Commit to the challenge to make a Sustainable Development Goal-inspired change in your life – an action or pledge to live more sustainably – and make a difference in issues like climate change, consumption and equality.

What you need to do

  • Click on the plus sign in the bottom right corner
  • Post your pledge. Pledges should be no longer than 300 words.
  • Once it's posted, click on the three dots on the top right of your post to copy a direct link to your post.
  • Save that URL somewhere because you will use it in your Green Steps application.

Tips on how to make your pledge stand out

  • Be creative with your Take One Step. We're looking for students (and 'steps') who think outside the box.
  • Take a look at the Sustainable Development Goals and consider how you might align your action with a social, environmental or economic target or indicator.
