Whenever you get a mark for an assessment, you’ll also receive an explanation of how that mark was decided. This feedback helps you understand how your work was assessed and how you can improve.
Feedback may be provided in different ways:
- written comments – personalised notes explaining your mark
- rubrics or marking guides – clear criteria showing how your performance compares against these and guidance on how to improve
- oral feedback – comments from academic staff during group sessions to guide/correct your learning
- sample answers.
The Moodle page for your unit will have details on how and when feedback will be provided.
Final assessment feedback

Asking for additional feedback
If you’d like more feedback on your assessment, here’s what you need to know.
- Check what’s already available first – make sure you’ve looked at all the feedback provided in Moodle before requesting more.
- Request extra feedback by email to your chief examiner within 10 University working days of the feedback being released. In your email, include:
- what feedback you’ve already received and why you think it’s inadequate
- the steps you’ve taken to access all feedback options listed in Moodle
- any exceptional circumstances that prevented you from accessing feedback (if relevant).
If you meet these requirements, the chief examiner will give you any extra feedback that’s available.
Deferred and supplementary assessment feedback
If you want feedback on a deferred or supplementary assessment, message Monash Connect with your request.
