The Connect Tutor aims to reinforce QA (Quality Assurance) standards and the Monash Tone of Voice in your email responses. The Tutor will scan your email, provide recommendations for potential improvement and give an overall score. The colour of the overall score will change depending on your result. Use this tool as a guide to improve your email before sending it. Note: This will not replace the QA scorecard.

**For Future Officers, the Connect Tutor works best if you do NOT copy email templates in the assessment of your writing.

Instructions for use:

1) Enter your email (from

greeting

to

rapport statement

) on the text field and press submit. 2) Complete the checklist on the right hand side. 3) Underlined or bolded text suggests area of improvement. 4) Your overall score will be displayed on top. It is based on your readability (using the Flesch reading-ease score), whether you have completed preliminary checks and if there are any major recommendations. If you would like to learn more about the Monash Tone of Voice, the Monash Editorial Style guide has been linked below Recommendation box. Please remember that this tool is only a guide. You do not need 100% to be able to send your written response.

Below is a sample email of what you should copy into Connect Tutor.

Dear Marissa Thank you for your interest in studying our Master of Teaching in Primary and Secondary Education. It’s great to hear that you are looking at pursuing your studies with us. I can certainly assist you with your enquiry today. You may be eligible for credit for your previous studies, but you will need to apply for our course first and the faculty will then determine how much credit is given. There is no pre-assessment for students who do not yet have an offer for our course. Marissa, I have also outlined some additional course information below for you which you may also like to look over. All the best with your studies.
