Our summer, winter and November units can help you fast-track your studies by completing units outside of our usual teaching periods.
Summer and winter semesters are a great option for current students looking to accelerate their course progression.
The teaching period is usually much shorter and more condensed than a standard semester, but the overall class hours remain the same. For example, instead of attending three hours of class per week for 12 weeks, you might have all-day classes for a week (this can vary between units).
How to select a unit and enrol
Step one: Search the Handbook for units on offer
To find which units are available, refer to the most recent Handbook:
- Click Advanced search.
- Select the Units tab.
- Use the filters to narrow your search, ensuring you’ve selected the relevant teaching period.
Not all faculties offer summer and winter units. If your faculty isn’t participating, you may be able to study an elective unit. Check out our Monash Enrich website for electives from across the University that don’t have any prerequisites or corequisites.
If you pick an elective from another faculty, just make sure you read our advice on studying electives with other faculties before you enrol.
Whatever unit you pick needs to meet your course requirements – these are outlined in the
Handbook
for the year you started your course
.
Step two: Check if your unit has non-standard dates
Some units have teaching and enrolment dates that differ from the standard summer/winter teaching period – we call these units with non-standard dates.
Before you enrol, you’ll need to check if your unit has non-standard dates by searching for the unit code on our units with non-standard dates page (if your unit appears here, it has non-standard dates).
Step three: Enrol
How and when you enrol depends on the teaching period you’re enrolling in and whether your unit has non-standard dates (see step two for how to check this).
