ASPIRE Summer Research Program 2026-2027 Applications are now closed.

The Faculty of Engineering ASPIRE Program (SRP) is a great opportunity for coursework students to gain hands-on experience working in engineering research. For 10 weeks over the summer break, participants are paid a scholarship to work on a research project under the supervision of a Monash University academic.

The ASPIRE Program (SRP) aims to provide participants with

Experience working in depth on an area of research

Research and academic skills that can be applied to a future career or studies

An insight into what a career in engineering research might look like

ASPIRE Summer Research Program

Working with World Class Academics

Discover how Judy's ASPIRE (SRP) at the Victorian Heart Hospital has helped to shape her future, working in a lab that's developing the next generation of heart support devices for patients waiting for a heart transplant. Seize your chance to work with a team of leading researchers, on impactful projects with real world outcomes. To explore the projects currently on offer and apply, follow the link below.

Faculty of Engineering ASPIRE Program

Over the 10 week program, 24 November - 14 December 2026, and from 4 January - 27 February 2027, participants work with an academic on a research project.

Participants will receive a scholarship of $600 per week. Students located interstate will be offered a travel allowance to cover return travel to Melbourne.

The Faculty’s ASPIRE Program is a proven pathway into our graduate research degrees with many of our participants later enrolling in a graduate research degree at Monash University.

The summer research project has been extremely rewarding experience, and has made me realise that I would really enjoy a career in research and academia. In addition, I also enjoy helping other students learn, having been a unit demonstrator in the past, which makes academia doubly suited to what I'm passionate about.
