- Try a general knowledge practice exam
- Access the eExam platform
- Access your final assessment timetable
At Monash, most final assessments (eExams) and many in-semester assessments take place on Monash’s eAssessment platform. If you haven’t sat an eExam before, don’t worry – students have told us that the system is easy to use.
To see how it all works, check out our guided video tour.
You can also:
- try out our general knowledge practice exam (take as many attempts as you like – don’t worry, they won’t be marked)
- take a look at our Moodle quizzes page to find out how they work (this is a good idea if your assessment is a Moodle quiz).
Types of eExams
- Recorded eExam (On-campus with in-person supervision).
- eExam with online supervision (using Monash’s integrated eVigilation platform).
- Recorded eExam (Off-campus).
- Off-campus eExam with Safe Exam Browser (no online supervision, lock-down browser enabled).
- Off-campus eExam (Unsupervised).
- Off-campus eExam 12-hour (full window or timed duration) – with or without Safe Exam Browser.
- Off-campus eExam 24-hour (full window or timed duration) – with or without Safe Exam Browser.
eExam question types
eExams use the following question types:
- multiple choice
- true/false
- fill in the blank
- short answer
- long answer
- image labelling
- handwritten answer (e.g. equations, diagrams), to be answered on pre-printed answer sheets (on-campus eExams) or blank A4 paper (off-campus eExams). These are uploaded using your smartphone
- file download/upload, where you download a file within the question, modify it, save it and then upload your response for marking.
If you have an eExam question that requires you to download and upload a file:
- Read the question and download the file provided.
- Modify the file according to the question.
- Save the file, then drag it into the upload area below the text of the question. You can only upload your file(s) during your exam – don’t wait until the end of the exam to do this. To avoid upload issues, the file you upload should be less than 5MB.
- Once your file appears in the upload area, you can move on to the next question.
How to access your eExam
- Open a new Google Chrome Incognito window.
- Go to eassessment.monash.edu and find your eExam (some in-semester eExams may use a different link, check your email to confirm which link you need to use).
- Read all the information on your eExam landing page (you’ll be able to access this two University working days before your exam).
- If you have an unsupervised eExam, the Start Exam button on the landing page will turn blue at the scheduled start time, at which time you will be able to access your exam questions.
- If you have a recorded eExam (with or without online supervision), you will see a Check in for exam button. Once you click this button, a second tab will open and you will be prompted to complete the online check-in process (you can do this up to 30 minutes before your exam start time).
- You should now have two tabs open: An eAssessment tab and a supervision tab.
- Follow the prompts to share your audio, webcam and screen.
- Follow the prompts to verify your identity .
- If you’re ready, hit the blue Ready to start button.
- Switch back to your eAssessment tab (keeping both tabs open).
- When it’s time to start your exam, the Start Exam button will turn blue – click on it to commence your eExam.
