Digital M-Pass
If your M-Pass card has expired, or been lost, stolen or damaged, you can set up a digital M-Pass for free – just follow the instructions to set up your digital M-Pass.
Students
Secure lab access
If you need an M-Pass card to access secure labs, make sure you get a digital M-Pass first. You can then go to Monash Connect on your campus and we'll print an M-Pass card for you.
Students who are Monash staff
If you’re both a student and staff member of Monash, you can’t have two digital M-Passes. Set up a digital M-Pass for your student ID and request an M-Pass card for your staff one.
Replacing your M-Pass card
If your M-Pass card has been lost or damaged, you can:
- order a replacement card through shop.monash – you’ll get an email within 5–10 days letting you know that your card is ready to be picked up from Monash Connect, or
- visit Monash Connect at any of our campuses to get a replacement M-Pass card printed on the spot (remember to bring photo ID with you) – you’ll just need to pay an M-Pass card replacement fee at the front counter.
You can get a replacement card for free if you’ve changed your legal name with Monash because you’re affirming your gender, you got married or divorced, or you’re concerned for your safety. If this applies to you, submit an enquiry through MoVA and we’ll arrange your free replacement card.
Expired M-Pass cards
You can set up a digital M-Pass if your card has expired – it will automatically update to reflect your new expiry date.
If your card has expired and you can't set up a digital M-Pass, visit Monash Connect and we’ll print one for you on the spot – just remember to bring your expired M-Pass card with you.
Lost or stolen cards
If you’ve lost your M-Pass card, or suspect it’s been stolen, you should immediately:
- Deactivate your M-Pass account: Contact Monash Connect and we’ll deactivate it for you – just make sure you let us know you need to deactivate a card (not a digital M-Pass).
- Call Security on 9902 7777 straight away to deactivate your building access.
- Notify the library either in person (at any branch) or call 9905 5054 to prevent others from using your M-Pass card to borrow books.
When you deactivate your M-Pass:
- payments from your card are immediately suspended
- building access is deactivated overnight.
If you find your card, you can reactivate your M-Pass by submitting an enquiry through MoVA.
Report a stolen student M-Pass to police
If you believe your student M-Pass has been stolen, notify the Victoria Police and ask for a Notice to the Victim Report (NTVR). You’ll need the report (or the report number) to get a free replacement card.
Requesting a correction
If there’s an error on your M-Pass (e.g. your name is misspelt), contact Monash Connect, or visit one of our front counters. We’ll assess it and provide you with a new M-Pass card for free if you’re eligible.
Security access on your M-Pass
When you receive your replacement card, allow up to 24 hours for security access to be enabled (if you’ve requested this).
Staff
If this is your first time getting an M-Pass, and you need an M-Pass card because you can’t set up a digital one, visit Monash Connect at any of our campuses and we'll print one for you.
Staff who are Monash students
If you’re both a student and staff member of Monash, you can request an M-Pass card for your staff ID, as you can’t have two digital M-passes. You need to set up a digital M-Pass for your student ID.
Replacing your M-Pass card
If you can’t set up a digital M-Pass and need a replacement card, you can either:
- submit an enquiry through MoVA (from your staff account), or
- come to Monash Connect at any of our campuses and we’ll print one for you on the spot.
When you receive your replacement card, allow up to 24 hours for security access to be enabled (if you’ve requested this). If you’re still unable to access your required areas, contact Monash Security on (03) 9902 7777 to reinstate your building access.
Lost or stolen cards
When you deactivate your M-Pass:
Report a stolen student M-Pass to police
Getting a new photo on your M-Pass card
If you’d like a new photo on your M-Pass card, you'll need to:
- Log into VerifyMe (log in on your mobile phone for the best photo quality).
- Provide a form of photo ID (e.g. passport, driver's licence).
- Take a selfie for you M-Pass (make sure you follow the photo guidelines).
VerifyMe will automatically verify your identity by matching your ID with your selfie.
Once complete, we’ll email you to confirm that your image has been approved.
After your photo is approved, you’ll be able to get a new card by submitting an enquiry through MoVA (from your staff account), or coming to Monash Connect at any of our campuses.
