Final Examination and Exam Performance Feedback

Reflecting on your exam performance helps you understand your strengths, identify areas for improvement, and support your learning. Feedback is provided in three stages.

Stage 1 – Summary Feedback

Once official results are released, Summary Feedback will be available on your unit’s Moodle site. Your Chief Examiner will advise when and how this feedback is available.

Summary Feedback includes:

  • An overview of cohort performance.
  • Key learning points and common errors.
  • Applies to all assessment types: within-semester, take-home, and final assessments (eExams).

If Summary Feedback is not yet available, please contact your Chief Examiner.

Stage 2 – Scheduled Final Exam Viewing (For Accredited Units Only)

1. Eligibility and Purpose:

After accessing the Stage 1 Summary Feedback on Moodle, you may apply to view your final exam response script for personal learning. This viewing applies only to accredited units with scheduled final assessments (eExams).

What you will see:

  • Your submitted exam script only

What you will NOT see:

  • No marks
  • No annotations or marker comments
  • No marking notes or workings

All fail-grade assessments have already been verified according to University procedures.

2. Viewing Rules and Conditions

To maintain academic integrity and fairness, the following conditions apply:

  • You must review Stage 1 Summary Feedback before applying.
  • You must not copy, record, photograph, screenshot, or reproduce the script in any form.
  • Academic staff will not discuss or negotiate final marks.
  • Each viewing session is limited to 10 minutes only.
  • Viewing is in person only at the EMO Consultation Room, Room 6419A (Building 6, Level 4, Room 19-A).
  • A staff member will supervise all sessions.

The marker will not be present during the viewing session.

📌 Important Note on Re-Marking Requests Students do not have an automatic right to request a remark, and such requests cannot be made through this process. If you believe there is a genuine error in the mark awarded, please follow the procedure outlined in Section 5 of the Marking and Feedback Procedure .

3. Application Process

  • Submit your application via SORS – Application to View Exam Scripts.
  • Submit a separate application for each unit.
  • Once approved, the Education Management Office (EMO) will send you a booking link.
  • Book your preferred slot within the deadline provided. No-shows or unbooked approvals will not be re-accommodated.

Stage 3 – Additional Feedback

If you still require clarification after completing Stages 1 and 2, you may request additional feedback by writing to your Chief Examiner.

Your email must include:

  • Feedback received thus far and why it is considered inadequate.
  • Any exceptional circumstances preventing access to all available feedback.

Note: Requests for additional feedback are subject to the Chief Examiner’s discretion and will be considered on a case-by-case basis, provided adequate justification is submitted. Comment end

  • No, students will need to change their enrollment.They must repeat the unit in the next semester it will be offered. This means students will need to update their personal study plan and follow.Students are expected to have completed the pre/co-requisites before they can enrol in the higher-level unit.
  • When students fail the pre-requisites, the units for next semester would automatically turn invalid. You may re-enrol your units once you have completed your supplementary exam, or after retaking the unit.You may refer to this website

Supplementary Exam

  • If you’re enrolled in a teaching period with an official results release date that is on or after 5 December 2022, you’re eligible for a supplementary assessment if:For more information on supplementary exams, please refer to this website: Supplementary Assessments
  • Limit on the number of supplementary assessments:For each teaching period (and based on study load), you’re eligible for a maximum of:If you’re in your final teaching period, you may be approved to complete any number of supplementary assessments (provided you’re eligible to complete your course if you pass all the supplementary assessments).For more information on supplementary exams, please refer to this website: Supplementary Assessments
  • On the day results are released, you will receive an email from the university to your Monash account. You must check your results for any units with a mark of 45 to 49 that meet the eligibility criteria above.If you meet the criteria for supplementary assessment(s), you must opt in to take the assessment(s). Please refer to the criteria listed in Supplementary Assessments.
  • No, you must apply using the supplementary assessment application form.
  • The Supplementary Assessments Opt-in Form will be included in your results release email and you must opt in within five working days of your results release.
  • If your unit result has a WH (Withheld) grade (or is missing), it means your unit result hasn’t been finalised yet.There are various reasons your grade may be withheld or missing.
  • If your WH grade turns to N (45-49),you can still opt for supplementary assessments. The deadline to opt in will only start from when you receive your mark.
  • You must be able to complete the supplementary assessment within 90 days of receiving your unit result (you’ll be notified of the assessment details).
  • The units you nominate for supplementary assessment will have a unit grade of NS (supplementary assessment granted) until you complete the assessment. If you don’t complete the assessment at the set time, your grade will be converted back to N (fail) or NH (hurdle fail).
  • To get a supplementary assessment, you must opt in within the five working day deadline. If you don't opt in by the deadline, your grade for the unit will remain as N (fail) or NH (hurdle fail). There is no further opportunity to opt in for supplementary assessment after this date.
  • We strongly recommend you to choose core units or compulsory units for your major. Please refer to your course map and make the necessary adjustments to it.Please do take note of the limit on the number of supplementary assessments:For each teaching period (and based on study load), you’re eligible for a maximum of:
  • Kindly attend the release of results Q&A briefing session or the course advice session if you wish to clear your doubt. The zoom details are given at the briefing site.It’s important that you still submit the supplementary opt form on time even if you're unable to access course advice by the deadline.
  • To find out the date, time and location of your final assessment (exam), check your timetable in Allocate+ when the deferred and supplementary timetables are released.   • NO, You can't make any changes once you have submitted your application.
  • NO, you are not required to pay for your supplementary assessment.

  • You have one opportunity to complete your supplementary assessment, and you cannot request to reschedule your supplementary assessment.
  • If you’re unable to complete your assessment on the set date, you can apply for a WI grade (if you meet the criteria) – just make sure you apply within 10 working days of the supplementary assessment date.
  • If you’re not eligible for a WI grade and you weren’t able to complete the supplementary assessment, you’ll receive the original mark you had when results were released (i.e. before you opted in for the supplementary assessment).

Assessment Feedback

  • During this time, the instructor receives a large number of email inquiries. Please allow them some time (at least two working days) to respond. If you still do not receive their response, please send a follow up email to them.
  • Your CE will provide information on how they will provide feedback on your assessments, and when you will receive it, on the unit Moodle site.
  • Feedback for scheduled final assessment is only made available after the official university results release date. Information on how to access this feedback will be provided by your CE on the unit Moodle site. This may be in the form of a rubric, example answer, short video or group feedback.
