  • An alumni member of Monash University

For more details, see here.

How many items can I borrow and for how long?

Answer:

You may borrow books available on the shelves by using the Self Check machines and the duration of the loan will vary depending on your course level or affiliation with the University.

Items borrowed under a Monash ID remain the responsibility of the individual indicated on the ID card. Items must be returned in good condition, without evidence of defacement, mutilation, or water damage.

What do I do if the book I am searching for is not found on the shelves?

Answer:

If you cannot locate an item on the shelf and the status in Search indicates that it’s available, you may seek assistance from the Library staff at the service counter on Level 1.

Will I receive any reminders for items that I have borrowed from the library?

Answer:

Library notices are sent via Monash email accounts.

For items borrowed:

  • A courtesy notice is sent 2 days before an item is due.
  • A ‘library item(s) due’ notice is sent 1 day after the due date of the item.
  • An 'overdue notice' is sent 7 days after the due date.
  • An 'overdue notice' is sent 30 days after the due date
  • An 'overdue notice' is sent as a final reminder 60 days after the due date

For items reserved (on Hold)

  • A notice is sent for Hold items that are available for collection. Hold items must be collected within 3 days at the service counter on Level 1.

Check your email for library notices regularly.

Where do I report the lost items?

Answer:

Library users who lose their belongings in the library premises are required to report the loss at the Security Office and provide information about the items lost.

How do I search for library resources?

Answer:

You may use Search online resource discovery tool to find all the materials available in the library.

Additional support can be found at:

  • The Search Help page
  • Service counter on Level 1

Where do I return my library materials?

Answer:

Books borrowed from the Open Shelf Collections (Levels 2 & 3) must be returned through the 24-hour Book Return facility located outside of the library.

All multimedia items must be returned to the service counter on Level 1.
