This course will elevate you to a domain expert in your chosen specialisation.

Whether you’re a working professional looking for a competitive edge or a recent graduate, you’ll greatly benefit from this course. Choose from emerging specialisations to expand your knowledge and advance your complex problem-solving skills in a cross-cultural environment.

Sustainable energy engineering

For decades, we have relied on fossil fuels to power the world. Today, energy is the dominant contributor to climate change, accounting for around 60 per cent of total global greenhouse gas emissions with devastating impacts on our health and environment.

We must turn to clean and renewable energy if we are to build a sustainable future. If your organisation has made a commitment to embrace green technologies and contribute to achieving net-zero emissions, this specialised Master course will equip you with the necessary skills to take the lead.

You’ll receive advanced education in sustainable and renewable energy, power generation, energy utilisation and transformation, energy efficiency, audit and management, industrial ecology, waste transformation, and low carbon technologies and assessment.

With multidisciplinary knowledge and skills in energy and sustainability to manage complex energy-related problems, you’ll be empowered to lead development in the energy sector with skills and insights in managing industrial challenges, leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship.

Industrial AI and robotics engineering

The manufacturing and services sector has seen rapid evolution over the past decade as organisations seek enhancements in industrial practices to deliver better products efficiently.

Competition has continued to intensify and with it, the need for engineers in this sector to upskill themselves to stay relevant. This specialised Master course in industrial and robotics engineering answers that demand, providing you with critical knowledge in the optimisation of industrial engineering system designs from the perspective of productivity, quality analysis and system improvement.

At the end of this course, you’ll acquire the skills, knowledge and attitude to continuously develop yourself to keep up with the requirements of this fast-moving industry. Specifically, you’ll be able to design, implement and improve systems in the manufacturing and services sectors to help your organisation stay ahead of the curve.

IoT systems and technologies

The Internet of Things (IoT) has completely changed our lives, introducing us to a world of smart homes, digital assistants, self-driving cars, wearables and more.

But IoT’s impact extends beyond convenience; it’s also revolutionising industries – from healthcare to manufacturing – by leveraging the power of data and automation. Using IoT, industries are reducing costs, increasing productivity and agility, optimising their products and services, and scaling up their businesses.

There is an enormous demand for engineers skilled in designing comprehensive IoT systems, proficient in core enabling technologies like IoT hardware, communications technology and intelligent data processing, and adept at seamlessly integrating these areas. Your expertise will be highly sought after worldwide.

Decarbonisation and net zero

This specialisation aims to foster a new generation of engineers who are prepared to drive meaningful change and shape a more sustainable future for all.

As the urgency to combat climate change intensifies, the engineering sector is at the forefront of a global shift to a sustainable future. This forward-thinking specialisation equips you with the critical knowledge and practical tools to lead decarbonisation efforts across industries.

With global policies increasingly focused on sustainability and nations tightening emissions regulations, industries are ramping up initiatives to achieve net-zero emissions and integrate sustainable operations into their core strategies. This course offers a comprehensive understanding of decarbonisation strategies and net-zero frameworks, enabling you to assess carbon footprints, manage energy use, and implement impactful sustainability initiatives.

You will gain hands-on expertise in carbon accounting, low-carbon technologies, and carbon capture, storage, and utilisation, skills that drive innovation and empower you to address industry-specific challenges in achieving net-zero goals. The specialisation also emphasises interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle complex environmental issues from multiple perspectives.

As corporations and international summits reinforce the urgency of net-zero targets, the ability to navigate and contribute to these global efforts becomes a vital skill. Completing this specialisation enhances your credentials and marketability, and positions you as a leader in the fight against climate change.

Semiconductor and microsystems engineering

The semiconductor industry makes vital components that support emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and high-performance computing. In many ways, our world is ‘built’ on semiconductors, and chip demand is set to rise over the coming decade. With this demand comes the need for skilled engineers specialising in semiconductors and its manufacturing processes.

This course is well-positioned to meet this need. You will advance your knowledge of semiconductor technology through hands-on experience in integrated circuit (IC) design, covering both analog and digital design using hardware description language (HDL) and state-of-the-art electronic design automation (EDA) tools.

On the manufacturing side, you will develop a deep conceptual and practical grasp of both the front-end processes—from wafer fabrication to device formation—and the back-end processes involving packaging, assembly, and testing. Overall, the course enhances career prospects by preparing you for high-value and rewarding roles in design, fabrication, and testing within global semiconductor and electronics companies.

Smart and sustainable mobility

The demand for highly skilled transport engineers, mobility planners, and specialists is greater than ever, as cities face increasing challenges such as urban growth, congestion, and transport-related environmental and health issues.

This specialisation provides a comprehensive education in the essential knowledge and practical skills needed for successful careers in key enabling technologies, including artificial intelligence, intelligent transport systems, autonomous and electric vehicles, and digital twin technologies. It builds a strong foundation in the digital landscape, focusing on the intersection of cutting-edge technologies and transportation systems.

You will explore how to integrate smart mobility solutions, autonomous and electric vehicles, artificial intelligence, and digital twin technologies to create efficient, sustainable, and interconnected urban environments. With hands-on experience in urban transport analytics and decision-making, you will graduate equipped for a broad range of roles, ready to drive transformative change and advance smart city initiatives both in Malaysia and internationally.

Colloids and polymer technology

As industries increasingly prioritise advanced materials, sustainability and high-value manufacturing, expertise in colloids and polymer technology is becoming essential across sectors such as rubber, coatings, paints, adhesives, specialty chemicals and advanced manufacturing.

Throughout this course, you will develop comprehensive knowledge of colloids, polymers, latex technology, nanotechnology and advanced materials characterisation, while building practical skills in formulation engineering, process optimisation, advanced analytical techniques and sustainable material design.

By integrating materials science, chemistry and engineering, you will be equipped to address complex industrial challenges, drive innovation in advanced manufacturing, and contribute to the development of sustainable, high-performance materials in line with emerging technologies and Industry 4.0.
