The intelligent systems research cluster develop algorithms using Control Theory and Artificial Intelligence to solve various problems, which includes:
(i) condition monitoring from limited information sources,
(ii) forecasting the occurrence of faults/failures or solar/wind generation,
(iii) extracting useful information from images and biomedical data,
(iv) learning between multiple robots.
These are then used in diverse applications such as:
(i) improving efficiency in transportation networks
(ii) improving efficiency of automated and complex industrial processes, smart agriculture, robot control
(iii) development of human interactive mobile apps,
(iv) optimizing operation of smart grid.
The research cluster has managed to attract research grants from:
(i) Government Agencies:
- Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (Ministry of Education, Malaysia)
- E-Science (Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation, Malaysia)
The research cluster is also actively involved in multi-disciplinary collaboration and projects, both internally and externally.
