KPT/JPT (R2/0510/6/0001) 06/29 - MQA/SWA0795

Delve into the science at the centre of healthcare.

Medical bioscience is all about the human body, healthcare and disease, and this course provides you with a solid foundation in this important and highly technical field.

You’ll study a wide range of interrelated life science topics, and have access to modern laboratories to support your learning and the development of research skills. In your final year, you can choose to pursue a research project on a medical bioscience unit of your interest.

What makes this degree truly unique is its specific development for the Malaysian context. You'll gain an understanding of medical bioscience in a tropical environment, with a particular focus on techniques in tropical medicine.

And you won't be peering through microscopes all the time. Fieldwork with a laboratory or community health organisation and professional training are also built into your course.

Courses with maths and science prerequisite subjects

If the course you are applying for requires maths and/or science as prerequisite subjects, you can meet the requirements in the following ways:

  • Australian Year 12 or International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme: You must meet the maths and/or science prerequisite subject required for your chosen course as specified above.
  • Other qualifications recognised by Monash: If you have completed maths and/or science subjects in the relevant discipline at the required grade level, it is assumed that you have knowledge equivalent to the Australian Year 12 (VCE equivalent) prerequisite subject required for your chosen course. It is strongly recommended that you check that you have covered the assumed knowledge required for your course by completing the Assumed Knowledge Skills Analysis. This online activity includes multiple-choice questions based on your prior studies and helps you identify areas for revision, so you can start your course feeling confident and prepared. Once you accept your Monash offer and set up your student account you can complete the Assumed Knowledge Skills Analysis before starting your course.

These guidelines do not apply to the Bachelor of Medical Science or Doctor of Medicine.

"Human biology intrigues me the most. Its complexity means that with more knowledge I have, more questions follow. Studying science has helped me build my critical thinking and analytical skills, and having the opportunity to work with my Monash peers from different backgrounds broadened my perspective and view of the world."

Michelle Seow Seak Fong Bachelor of Medical Bioscience In-house Clinical Research Associate at PRA Health Sciences
