Fancy travelling overseas and participating in some awesome immersive classes for credit during your summer or winter break?

A Global Summer Program (GSP) or Global Winter Program (GWP) is a short-term overseas learning opportunity that is timed to fit within the summer or winter break.

There are two different participation modes for summer and winter schools, namely Exchange or Independent Study Abroad (ISA).

The modes determine how you are enrolled, and how costs and fees are paid.

  • You pay tuition fees to Monash. You will pay all other associated program and administration fees directly to the host. For the duration of your program, you will be enrolled in Exchange unit codes.
  • You are responsible for paying all associated fees, generally directly to the host institution. For the duration of your program, you will be enrolled in ISA unit codes. For programs in Europe, the USA, and the UK, the tuition fees can often be quite expensive. For programs like ACICIS however, you may be eligible for New Colombo Plan funding to contribute towards your tuition fees.

Where can I go?

Only summer and winter programs that have been pre-approved by Monash Abroad and available in the Monash Abroad Program Search in the Global Summer Programs and Global Winter Programs brochures can be taken. This is to ensure the quality and timeliness of the programs available to students.

Winter programs are usually promoted from late February, and Summer programs are promoted from late July. Only faculty and Monash Abroad-approved summer and winter school options are available.

How much will it cost?

Program costs will vary depending on the participation mode, program duration, destination and host institution.

For more information about program costs, refer to the brochure information on the Monash Abroad Program Search for GSP and GWP.

Important note: Do not pay any deposits (where relevant), or organise flights until you have received Monash Abroad approval. Monash Abroad will not be held responsible for any costs incurred as a result of an unsuccessful application.
