Scam warning
To protect yourself from fraudsters and scams, pay using only the methods below and never pay through an unauthorised third party, even if discounts are offered.
Scammers may contact you on social media, or be recommended by a friend. The scammer makes payments to the University using stolen credit cards and shows you the payment is accepted. Weeks or months later, payments are reversed and your course fees remain unpaid. Victims lose the money they paid to the scammer and still have to pay the University in full.
To ensure you're protected from scams, stay up to date with the latest warnings on Scamwatch.
If you think the University should know about a scam, email university.security@monash.edu.
Fee payment methods and transfer times
Make sure you include your Monash student ID number in your payment description/reference (at the start of either the description or reference field). If you leave this out, the payment process may be delayed.
Monash University does not accept payment using prepaid gift cards and/or prepaid debit/credit cards. If we suspect a prepaid card is used for payment, Monash reserves the right to reverse the transaction to the same card and you’ll need to pay using an approved payment method.
You're responsible for any bank fees or exchange rate differences for the payments you make.

Changing your payment method
You can change the payment method for your Student Contribution Amount (SCA) in the Web Enrolment System (WES) – just make sure you do it before 11.59pm on the census date.
- Click Enrolment / Re-enrolment.
- In the Enrolment Summary screen, click CSP HECS-HELP or FEES-HELP. If you're eligible to change your payment option, the SCA payment method menu will display. Your valid Tax File Number (TFN) is required for HECS-HELP loans but is optional for upfront payments. If you're eligible for FEE-HELP, you can provide your TFN to defer to a HELP loan by completing the FEE-HELP form.
- If you’re able to see the SCA payment method menu, follow the prompts to complete and submit the form. WES will email you a transaction number to confirm the change.
WES will email you a transaction number to confirm the change.
If you don't provide your TFN, and don't make payment in full by the census date, your enrolment will be cancelled.
Monash online credit card payments are authorised by 3D Secure. This means that the cardholder's bank may request a PIN or password to verify the cardholder when a credit card payment is made.
Check we've received your payment
To view a list of all payments received:
- Allow enough time for your bank to process the payment. See the approximate transfer times in the section above.
- Log into the Web Enrolment System (WES).
- Under All Statements, go to Payments and Refunds and click View.
We’ll send you an updated fees statement to confirm we’ve received your payment:
- up to two working days after a credit card payment
- up to five working days after a bank transfer.
If you don’t receive a new fees statement within the expected transfer time, you can send Monash Connect a copy of your bank receipt. You don't have to do this if you can see your new statement in WES.
Fees reminders
Our system automatically generates a fees reminder to students before the due date. If you receive a fees reminder and you:
- recently paid your fees, don't worry – it can take several days for the payment to reach us. You'll receive an updated fees statement in WES once we’ve receipted your payment. If you haven’t received an updated fees statement within five working days of the payment, message Monash Connect
- haven’t paid your fees, you need to pay them straight away, otherwise we may place a block (encumbrance) on your Monash account. For details, see fees non-payment (encumbrance).
You can monitor when we receive your payment in the Web Enrolment System (WES):
- Go to Fees Statements.
- Under All Statements > Payments and refunds, select View or Email (to view your fees reminder or have it emailed to your Monash student email account).
