This page provides information on Faculty of Law letters which can be requested free-of-charge to support student and graduate applications to external authorities. To request a letter, please complete and submit the online form at the bottom of this page. Types of letters that the Faculty can provide include:

To support the Practical Legal Training requirements for admission to the legal profession, students can request to obtain a PLT letter confirming:

  1. completion of the compulsory 'Priestley 11' subjects at Monash University
  2. remaining electives required upon course completion
  3. the result release date for your final units

Please note that this letter can only be issued to students with current Monash enrolment. If you've completed your degree, then you can look into obtaining a Proof of Qualification letter and/or Academic Transcript via WES or order one with Monash Connect's virtual assistant.

Additionally, VLAB requires that Concurrent Study Applications can only be received from those who have completed all of their Priestley 11 subjects and have no more than two subjects remaining.

Please visit the Admission to practise law in Victoria webpage to request digital Academic Conduct Report and Transcript sent to VLAB.

To support your interstate application for admission in another Australian state, students can request to obtain a Dean's Certificate confirming the completion of the following compulsory 'Priestley 11' subjects at Monash University:

Administrative Law, Civil Dispute Resolution, Company Law, Contracts, Criminal Law and Procedure, Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Equity (including Trusts), Evidence, Federal and State Constitutional law, Property and Torts

New York Bar: Law School Certificate (Digital)

To support the Application for Admission to Practice as an Attorney and Counselor-at-Law in the State of New York, students can request the Faculty of Law to sign and upload the Law School Certificate on their behalf to the Appellate Division Department.

Please ensure that your uploaded document includes the following information to avoid any delays in processing your request:

  1. BOLE ID (New York State Board of Law Examiners)
  2. Official Email Address of the Appellate Division Department

Law Student Services will send your form to the designated authorities in New York via our official faculty email address to support swift processing of your application.

New York Bar: Transcript & Proof of Qualification (Stamped Hardcopy)

If you require your Transcript and/ or Proof of Qualification Letter (standard letter) to be posted to New York in a sealed and stamped envelope by the Faculty of Law, you can submit your request directly to Monash Connect via ask.monash. Please visit our miscellaneous fees page for further information on our transcript and standard student letter prices.

Please include your decision within the Comments section of the form.
