This unit is designed to support you through the process of developing and realising a self-directed research project within the disciplines of art history, art writing and curating. You will be encouraged to apply the knowledge you have gained throughout your degree and extend your interest in a particular mode of practice or research area. Your project might take any of a wide range of creative forms such as: an exhibition, publication, website, podcast or event. You will explore and develop the theoretical and practical aspects of your project through a program of directed reading and group discussions, alongside regular meetings with staff.

Learning outcomes
- Critically evaluate and respond to current discourses associated with a research area or mode of practice relevant to art history, art writing or curating;
- Identify and apply appropriate research methodologies in the development of an art history, art writing or curatorial project;
- Critically analyse key characteristics of the site, audience and format of an art history, art writing or curatorial project;
- Identify and apply key practical considerations involved in realising an art history, art writing or curatorial project;
- Apply appropriate theoretical and historical arguments in the justification of an art history, art writing or curatorial project.
