This unit is designed to introduce you to the literacies required for academic study in their degree courses. Language use at university differs from 'generic' language. These differences will be explored through discussion and practice. You will engage with a variety of discipline specific resources to extend your skills in both oral and written communication. The unit focuses on the development of an argument and the critique of discipline specific literature. Research skills, essay structure and academic standards and protocols in communication are core to this unit.
