Overview
This unit is designed for individuals with existing mindfulness experience. You will build on your personal and learned experience within applied practices. You will learn how to effectively and adaptively shape and deliver mindfulness-based programs across a range of contexts. The didactic pedagogy is experiential, dialectical, and reflective, covering topics such as the core principles of delivering mindfulness programs, strategies for engaging participants, methods of mindful inquiry, guiding meditation practices, and contextualising mindfulness in different settings. You will also explore important cautions and considerations around when and how mindfulness-based approaches should be applied.

Learning outcomes
- apply mindfulness-based skills and practices effectively;
- critically evaluate what mindfulness approaches are appropriate in different settings;
- effectively engage individuals and groups, particularly those who are new to mindfulness;
- develop mindfulness programs to suit different contexts and participant groups;
- skilfully debrief participants’ experience and facilitate mindful inquiry to deepen their learning;
- critically evaluate in what settings or for which individuals’ mindfulness may not be appropriate or should be delivered in a modified format.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per teaching period typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
