As the sustainability agenda deepens, the public and private sectors face growing demands for accountability. In this unit you will extend and apply the skills and knowledge you developed in APG5122 with a particular focus on effective measurement. You will examine i) how environmental and social performance interact with financial processes and measurement ii) steps, principles, tools and methodologies and their practical application when accounting for sustainability and its three capital stocks. This includes the how, what, when, where and why of measuring, monitoring, evaluating and reporting relevant sustainability related information.

Learning outcomes
- analyse and explain why effective measurement is critical in driving the sustainability agenda and supporting business cases;
- select and use appropriate measurement strategies, indicators and tools for a given situation;
- critically evaluate how leading organisations are measuring sustainability.

Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study.
