In this unit you will share, analyse and reflect upon your transformative experiences in global learning at Monash. The unit brings together students who are currently participating in or have recently completed a global mobility experience such as international student exchange, study abroad, or collaborative online international learning. Through guided readings, reflective exercises, and a team project, you will investigate the multifaceted impacts of global student mobility and situate your own experiences meaningfully within them. You will also explore themes such as cultural immersion, academic challenges, personal growth and perspectives on global citizenship and employability. The unit fosters interdisciplinary approaches and evidence-based understandings, with a focus on cultural sensitivity, respectful engagement with local communities and ethical considerations in global contexts. By engaging with your peers’ narratives and critically examining your own global learning journey, you will gain greater self-awareness, intercultural competence, and appreciation for your role as a globally conscious citizen, as well as the tools needed to showcase what you have gained from your global mobility experiences to a variety of audiences, including prospective employers.
