This unit allows you to independently gain in-depth discipline knowledge in a selected area of business and commerce as a foundation to the completion of an honours/postgraduate diploma project. You will undertake further independent literature studies, and complete other learning activities and assessments considered appropriate for skills development in literature review. In this unit, you will develop digital literacy skills as part of the literature review process and conduct critical analysis of literature that informs the theoretical perspectives, and methodological approaches suitable for business research.

Learning outcomes
- apply digital literacy skills in conducting literature review
- analyse the literature to develop subject matter expertise in the chosen topic area
- synthesis the literature to inform the student’s research topic of choice and research methodology appropriate for the chosen research project
- critically evaluate academic literature and present in written and/or oral form of key arguments related to the research project.
Workload
Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities. You are expected to complete all pre-class activities prior to your scheduled class, and post-class activities should be completed after your scheduled class. Learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed, peer directed and online engagement activities.
